Coraline Uses 3D Technology

Coraline just released to reviewers and so far, reviews are very good.  I found it to be quite mesmerizing.  The combination of stop-motion and 3D has apparently worked out well.  The most interesting story here, is the movie studio that produced it, Laika.  Laika is owned by Phil Knight, a co-founder and chairman of Nike.  Since Laika is run by a visionary, and a relative newcomer to the business, Coraline is a piece of art.  In the film, you can experience both the true birth of an up and coming film company, while you feel sucked in by the 3D technology.  Laika experimented and developed new techniques to make a compelling environment.  I highly recommend you check out this article about the making of the movie:

Side note:
I was somewhat floored to see that the press is focusing much more on the stop-motion technology than the 3D, so it’s quite obvious to see PR so delicately driving the press.
